The Game Plan is Simple:

Elevate lacrosse in Atlanta with an exciting Division I standoff where all proceeds benefit veterans.

Lacrosse remains the fastest-growing field sport in America, the same can be said for the Southeast – especially in Georgia. Today, youth leagues and student athlete college recruitment continue to rise, with Atlanta now regarded as a talent hotbed for young men and women.

Professionally, Georgia even has its own thriving championship NLL team, the Swarm, headlined by who many consider the sport’s greatest contemporary player – Lyle Thompson – leading the charge (and choosing this city to do so).

So over the last decade, it’s not surprising that lacrosse’s popularity and participation among Georgian families has risen considerably. Not to mention, dedicated, exponential attendance at stadium events each season.

Yet despite the sport’s remarkable ascent, Division I college opportunities and exposure to the game at this level still remain slim to none in the South.

That’s why we’re bringing the excitement of a DI rivalry here to Dekalb’s Silverbacks Park in 2024: An easily accessible, six-field stadium complex: with all proceeds supporting Shootout for Soldiers.

Shootout for Soldiers

By incorporating the platform of lacrosse to engage communities nationwide, Shootout for Soldiers, a 501c(3), supports local veterans’ healthy and successful transition to civilian life after their term of service.

To date, this national organization has generated over $4,000,000 for these heroes, largely through its annual 24-hour lacrosse festival that take place nationwide. In Atlanta, the event is held at Kennesaw Mountain High School, with divisions ranging in age from 12 to 60 for both men and women!

Who are the players?

285 Lacrosse, a local coalition of key leaders in Atlanta’s lacrosse community,
is partnering with the Shootout for Soldiers Foundation to bring two perennial top DI men’s lacrosse programs, UMass and Army West Point, together for an epic, highly anticipated matchup serving as each team’s 2024’s season opener.

Even better? Each team’s rosters have players who call Atlanta home.
The game will be televised live on ESPN+ with additional national coverage via USA Lacrosse and Inside Lacrosse magazine.

Then, there’s your company. Its participation is pivotal to ensure that this event not only takes place and becomes an Atlanta tradition. But more importantly, that it serves as a win-win-win for all involved
